The aromatics are reminiscent of bees wax, honeysuckle and white pear. The palette displays medium weight to the mouth, balanced with wet stone and avors of lemon curd and green papaya. ere’s a lovely characteristic richness to this wine that ends with on the back palate with zippy acidity.
The fruit for the wine was sourced from 3 sites in the Sonoma Coast Appellation. The majority came from the cool western edge where the majority of the soils are gold-ridge loam which is great for drainage and adding lovely structure to the wine. A signi cant portion came from the colder Petaluma Gap area where fog and wind create bracing acidity and complexity in the wine. And nally, a small amount came from a special site in the heart of the Russian River Valley, which adds richness to the wine and gives the wine lovely balance overall.
The whole cluster grapes were slowly pressed and barrel fermented in 30% new tight grain French Oak barrels, and bottled after 18 months in March of 2017. is is one of those rare Chardonnays that is balanced and bright, that will pair beautifully with a multitude of cuisine, and is great for any party scene. The wine will cellar nicely for another 3 to 5 years.
