From their childhood days spent alongside the cornfields in southern Illinois, just across the river from St. Louis, Richard and Roger grew up with an appreciation for the red birds. In 2008 with the Blue Jay and Peregrine so popular in their stable of Pinots, they decided it was time to reflect on their true aviary favorite! Sonoma Coast's bright red fruit and lovely floral aromatics was the perfect fit. The 2017 Red Birds reveals aromas of lovely baked raspberries, cola and a dash of sandalwood. The balanced Pinot evokes a rich mouthfeel with layers of generous red berries, red plum and damp forest floor.
The 2018 Château des Garcinières Rosé is our third release of the wine and it has provided us with yet another stunning bottling from winemaker Stéphanie Valentine Bonnant. The blend is composed of 75% Grenache and 25% Cinsault. Vibrant and fresh, aromas of white peach and passion fruit emerge from the glass with a hint of lavender to remind us of its home by the sea. As with previous vintages, the mouth is filled with delicate raspberry and wild strawberry. The hallmark minerality of the wine is persistent thru the lively finish. Crisp and lovely, the striking acidity makes it a perfect example of why all others try to imitate the Rosés of Provence!
