Big News: ’12 Red Birds Pinot Release and Our Black Pine Wine Club Debuts…
05/12/2014

Join us for complimentary tastes of our Black Pine Pinot Noir during May!

Greetings from the R2 Tasting Room! We have some exciting things happening here and I wanted to take this opportunity to tell you about two of them in particular.

The first is the release of 2012 Red Birds Pinot Noir. This wine is drinking beautifully, and is evocative of the fresh cherries and strawberries being sold at roadside stands and markets around Sonoma. Our wine club members have already had an opportunity to taste this delicious wine, but it is now available to the public in the tasting room and through our online store.

We are also pleased to announce our new Black Pine Wine Club. This club is specifically for the growing number of fans for our flagship wine, Black Pine Pinot Noir.

So, what is so special about our Black Pine Pinot Noir? To really answer that question requires a tiny bit of history. Originating in France, the grape variety Pinot Noir got its name because the first Pinot Noir grape clusters resembled the shape of the pine cones from the Black Pine tree indigenous to southern France. “Black Pine” seemed to Roger Roessler to be a fitting name for the wine he wanted to immediately evoke the image and flavor of Pinot Noir to wine lovers everywhere. Black Pine literally means Pinot Noir.

Roger’s goal with Black Pine was to bring all of what is special and delicious about the Pinot Noir he loves to you at a price point that makes it affordable for everyday occasions.

Black Pine Pinot Noir is a masterful blend of great vineyards from up and down the California Coast. Rich in concentration, Black Pine Pinot Noir fills the glass with concentrated dark cherry and earthy aromas that continue to the palate with lush and concentrated dark cherry and berry flavors with herbal and spice notes on great structure and ending with a silky, long finish. Our Black Pine hits Pinot Noir's Sweet Spot with complexity, nuance and the lush mouthfeel that makes Pinot Noir so special.

The Black Pine Wine Club operates a bit differently than other wine clubs. Shipments for this club occur once every two months, rather than quarterly. Each shipment is only $50(!), plus tax and shipping, and includes three bottles of wine. Two of those bottles will always be the most current vintage of Black Pine Pinot Noir, and the third will be a seasonally appropriate selection from our winemaker, Drew Huffine. Members of the Black Pine Wine Club also receive discounted shipping, discounts on online purchases, and complimentary tastings in the tasting room. The first shipment is scheduled for June 1, so join today to avoid missing out! Enrollment will soon be available at blackpinepinot.com, as well as in our tasting room.

To celebrate the new wine club, we will also be pouring complimentary tastes of the Black Pine Pinot Noir in our tasting room during the month of May. Come join me or Anna and taste the wines we are so excited about!

Cheers!
