Greeting Summer With Our New 2013 Hannah Rose Rosé…
06/12/2014

Cool off this summer with our Hannah Rose Rosé!

Greetings from the R2 Tasting Room!

We’re still a few weeks away from the solstice, but summertime is most certainly already upon us here in Sonoma. And as the temperatures rise, my mind moves to rosé. Along with the delicate whites of Alsace, rosés from Spain and Southern France are perennial favorites in my home and a great way to beat the heat.

The best of these wines offer both refreshment and character. Fruitiness and minerality harmonize on the nose and palate, and vibrant acidity makes great rosés quite versatile when pairing with food. Roger, Richard and Drew had some of these great wines in mind (particularly the ones from Southern France) when crafting the 2013 R2 Hannah Rose Rosé. Bone-dry with a pale salmon color, this wine is equally at home by the pool or at the dinner table.

Grenache is heralded internationally as a great varietal for making rosés, and the Santa Ynez Valley is home to some of the finest Grenache vines in California. The 2013 Hannah Rose is crafted primarily from Grenache, as well as Carignane and Mourvedre, from the wonderful Camp 4 Vineyard. The quality and character of this fruit is excellent and really well suited for rosé production. You may have noticed that we use grapes from the Camp 4 Vineyard in most of our Rhone-style wines. Clearly, we’re big fans!

Roger, Richard and Drew just finished bottling the 2013 Hannah Rose a few weeks ago, and we’re excited to debut it in the tasting room this coming weekend. This Friday, June 13, we’ll be celebrating the release of our new ’13 Hannah Rose Rosé, as well as the beginning of summer, at the tasting room with music, food and great deals on bottles of wine! The party starts at 6 p.m., and reservations are not necessary. Come enjoy some Sonoma hospitality and some great wine at the end of your week. If you’re not able to join us for the release party, we’ll be offering the 2013 Hannah Rose Rosé, along with all of our other great R2 Wine Company wines, in the tasting room all summer long.

Cheers!
