From one of California’s premiere Chardonnay growing areas, our Big Bend satisfies with lovely Chardonnay aromatics, crisp green apple and tropical fruit on the mid palate, and great acidity and citrus notes on the finish.

Big Bend Chardonnay...

Located slightly south and west of the town of Sonoma, Big Bend Vineyard is the estate site that is home for R2 Wines.  Purchased in 2007, the 19 acre property has 8 acres of Chardonnay that were planted in the 80’s and produce less than 2 tons per acre.  There are also 6 acres of high density Pinot Noir vines which were planted in 2007.  It serves not only as the source for our Big Bend Chardonnay, but also the base for our Black Pine Pinot Noir now that those new vines are producing.

ABOUT THIS WINE
The northwestern reaches of the Carneros appellation run right up to the hills that separate Sonoma and Petaluma. At the base of the eastern face of these hills lies our Big Bend Vineyard. Blessed with morning fog, warm sunny days and the cooling influence of the consistent afternoon breezes, Big Bend is a site that is perfect for ripening Chardonnay. Our Big Bend Chardonnay displays lovely deep, rich tropical fruit and green apple aromas with a note of vanilla and toast. On the palate, the wine presents pineapple and apple flavors with citrus zest notes and a lush mouth feel. The bright citrus notes carry through the lengthy finish.
